Intimate Areas Dark Spots, Yes There is a Solution

Hyperpigmentation in your intimate areas can be frustrating and embarrassing. You may have had these dark places for so long that you may feel like there is nothing you can do. Instead, you avoid certain clothing you want to wear, maybe avoid some types of intimacy, or feel uncomfortable around your partner.

What causes these dark places?

Unlike the dark patches, you get on your face, dark places in your intimate areas are not caused by sun damage. The dark areas around your intimate areas are caused by hormone changes, friction, chafing, frequent shaving, medications, aging, waxing, and dead skin build-up.

Can you avoid your intimate areas becoming dark?

Yes and no, your natural skin color does play a part in how dark the areas may appear. There are some things you can do to minimize the dark areas and correct the appearance of the skin.

  • Avoid or reduce chafing. Use non-talc-based powder, avoid staying in wet clothes and wear moisture-wicking underclothes.

  • Keep skin moisturized.

  • Avoid shaving (find a provider near you that offers Epilfree and have hair permanently removed)

  • Exfoliate, use a gentle exfoliator to remove dead and dry skin.

Can you correct intimate areas that are already dark?

There are products on the market that claim to bleach dark areas and make the skin lighter. It is important to be ingredient aware when looking for a product. Many products sold in the US are made with hydroquinone. Due to concerns about hydroquinone, it is banned in Europe, Japan, and Australia. These concerns include redness, pigmentation changing to blue/black, itching, and dry patches.

What to look for in a product?

When choosing a product that treats the intimate area of dark pigment, look for one that stops the production of tyrosinase (the enzyme that causes the skin to darken) and has safe ingredients in it like our Illuminating Pink. With ingredients like resveratrol and resorcinol derivatives in it, Illuminating Pink is safe to use on all skin colors. Resveratrol reduces melanin production and helps to reverse that dark discoloration.

How soon will you see the results?

It is recommended that Illuminating Pink be used 2x a day for best results. Illuminating Pink begins to work right away and with continued use, the dark areas will lighten permanently. Illuminating Pink is non-toxic and safe for use on all of your intimate areas including nipples, anus, Brazilian area, under arms, and happy trail.
